Everyone knows the story of the Titanic, either from history books or from the Academy award-winning movie with the same name. It was a massive ship that was labeled “unsinkable.” No one was the least bit worried that the ship would not reach its final destination, but should they have been? Were there signs that the ship was doomed from the launch? Here are five reasons (possible superstitions) why they should have seen it coming (http://www.titanicstory.com/interest.htm).

During this era, cats were brought on ships for good luck, however no cats were brought aboard the Titanic, but two dogs did survive the sinking.

The launching of the Titanic didn’t have the traditional bottle-breaking. It was customary to break a bottle of champagne on the bow of a boat when launched.

There were 13 couples on board the Titanic who were celebrating their honeymoons.

A fictitious novel, “Futility,” was written about the largest ship ever built hitting an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on a cold April night. The ship was named Titan and was labeled “unsinkable.” This novel was written 14 years before the Titanic sank.

The Titanic held only enough life boats to carry about half of its maximum number of passengers.

What do you think? Was the Titanic doomed to never reach its final destination?
