The Wall Street Journal reports today that over 45 million Americans, that’s nearly 15% of the U. S. population relied on Food Stamps in August. According to the U. S. Department of Agriculture, that’s a 8.1% increase in the past year alone. Burhop says the rise in food stamp use in Missoula County is alarming, but that the rate of increase is beginning to slow down.
